We are pleased to announce the first solo exhibition of Moritz Berg in Vienna.
Moritz Berg explores the romanticized perception of nature within tourism by his show „Urlaub in Italien“. Inspired by a trip to Italy his works draw attention to less noticed, yet impressive details of the landscape and culture that contradict the usual tourist stereotypes. The artist focuses on inconspicuous moments such as the dripping resin of almond trees, waving fig leaves and abstract looking motifs in wet sand – impressions that cultivate an authentic understanding of nature. Berg’s work emerge as souvenirs that translate the ephemeral impressions of his journey into tangible objects and thus attempt to transform fleeting qualities of nature into a lasting memory.
