Christian Bär

Christian Bär (born 1989 in Stuttgart)  lives and works in Leipzig.

Christian Bär captures the essence of Zeitgeist in his art. Drawing inspiration from the tradition of plein air painting, he creates digital landscape paintings informed by impressions from social media feeds. His works feature a dynamic mix of floating texts, recognizable figurative drawings, and fragments of imagery borrowed from other sources. Current events and internet culture are integrated into his compositions, manipulated through scaling, rotation, or distortion, and transferred to the canvas with the precision of a tablet click.

Bär’s creative process is an interplay between the digital sketch and the canvas, resulting in paintings that appear gestural yet are meticulously composed. His works transcend representational space, focusing instead on the medium of painting itself and expressing a raw, immediate state of mind.
