We are excited to announce our first participation at SPARK Art Fair Vienna.
For this occasion, we are showcasing an exclusive selection of works by Spanish-born artist Gemma Solà Sotos.
Gemma Solà Sotos latest body of work explores themes of stillness, nostalgia, memory, and the emotional weight of everyday objects. Through paintings on canvas and paper, she constructs a visual language in which landscapes unfold as vast, mystical, and empty expanses; clouds drifting away, chairs, glasses, chess pieces, and feet hover between presence and absence.
The artists approach to painting is fluid and intuitive, layering acrylic, charcoal, and graphite to create compositions that oscillate between abstraction and figuration. Her use of the airbrush technique produces the blurred, fading lines that imbue her works with a dreamlike quality. Reality and fiction blur as pictorial elements shift in meaning, evoking fading memories and a pervasive sense of nostalgia. Soft, serene colors contrast with static, frozen scenes—this interplay of energy and inertia mirrors the generational search for stability in the face of uncertainty.
This selection of new works invites viewers into a space of quiet tension, where objects take on different meaning and time stretches indefinitely—a meditation on a generational nostalgia, displacement, and the balance between presence and absence.
